All About Our Babymoon in Anguilla

Kenny and I have had the Caribbean island of Anguilla on our bucket list for years. So, when we found out we were pregnant and began thinking of the perfect babymoon destination, it was one of the first places that came to mind! You guys have been asking all about our babymoon from where we stayed, to what I wore, to what we did, and how I traveled safely (and comfortably!) while pregnant. So it only felt right to put together a post dedicated to how to babymoon in Anguilla & everything we got up to on our trip!

How we got to Anguilla for our babymoon

We flew direct from Miami to Anguilla on American Airlines. This is a new direct flight for American as of 2022 (yay!! Before, you used to either have to private jet or boat over to Anguilla – so the direct flight is huge!), be sure to snag a ticket before it gets too popular and the prices increase!

Where we stayed on our babymoon in Anguilla

Cap Juluca, A Belmond Hotel

The first place that Kenny and I stayed on our babymoon in Anguilla was Cap Juluca. We LOVED it here. If you were following along on IG stories, you probably saw just how sad Kenny was when we had to check out. This place felt like home to us. Cap Juluca has four restaurants, a cocktail bar and lounge, a five-star spa, and a gorgeous infinity pool overlooking the ocean. The biggest benefit to Cap Juluca is its beach, and the fact that you walk directly from your hotel suite onto the beach – which I’d argue is the most beautiful beach on the island!!! The water here was unbelievably aqua, and the white sand was impossible to beat. The only downside? This side of the island is windier than the other side!

To book, fill out this contact form and be sure to use the referral code “JETSETCHRISTINA” if you use my referral, my agency partner will reach out with more information and can help book you at the best rate with all kinds of fun perks (at no extra cost to you, and they don’t charge a fee to book!)

Malliouhana, Auberge Resorts Collection

We then spent the second half of our babymoon at the stunning and chic Malliouhana by Auberge. We were greeted by their friendly staff with a welcome drink (mine was a mocktail, of course!) and a song. The decor here is insanely chic, so beautiful everywhere you look!!!! And our room was one of my favorite hotel rooms ever, with a huge oceanfront balcony. This place has a ton of old-school character and glam (it was the first luxury resort on the island) and I was a big fan of their brightly-colored umbrellas, gorgeous infinity pools (one for families, one for adults) and beautiful ocean views.

The view from our balcony at Malliouhana!! So, so beautiful.

Where we ate on our babymoon in Anguilla

The Cap Shack

One of our favorite restaurants at Cap Juluca was The Cap Shack! I’m craving another lobster roll from here right about now. Not only does this place have great food, but they also offer a unique experience as they are the only restaurant located directly on Maundays Bay beach – the stunning beach Cap Juluca is on.

Uchu

Also located at Cap Juluca is Uchu. Even if you don’t end up staying at Cap Juluca, I highly recommend that you come here for lunch to enjoy its incredible atmosphere.

The pool at Uchu

Sharky’s Restaurant

Sharky’s Restaurant is loved by both tourists and locals. The vibrant color scheme of the private-home-turned-restaurant will certainly catch your eye, but once you are inside, the delicious food and inviting atmosphere are what will keep you coming back.

Sunshine Shack

If the name alone doesn’t bring a smile to your face, the vibes certainly will! Sunshine Shack is a local watering hole that is loved by everyone on the island. It is the perfect place to post up on a sunny afternoon for lobster and a refreshing Mai Tai!

Veya Restaurant

At Veya, you can dine in a “treehouse” and enjoy some amazing Anguillan seafood while you listen to live music. It’s such a fun and unique island vibe!

Blanchard’s

This restaurant is a great spot for dinner. There are tons of great things on the menu (including vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options!). Make sure you save room for dessert and order BOTH the carrot cake and the cracked coconut!

Ember

Ember is located in The Valley, which is the capital of Anguilla. Here, you will find Caribbean beach cuisine prepared in a wood-fired oven or on a wood-fired grill. And as an added bonus, the views are beautiful from every seat in the house!

Jacala

If you need a mid-day break, head to Jacala for a French-inspired lunch. This place is so good, even Martha Stewart declared it as her favorite in all of the Caribbean!

Julian’s

Julian’s is a tropical French bistro located in the Quintessence Hotel known for its romantic atmosphere and incredible wine list. Sadly, I couldn’t put their wines to the test this time, but this place is definitely going to be first on our list when we come back!

What we did on our babymoon in Anguilla

There has been a lot going on in the Haisfield household this past year! Between our wedding in Maui, moving to Charleston, decorating our house, launching multiple new Kenny Flowers/Watercolors Swim prints, and finding out we were pregnant, it’s been a little bit hectic (to say the least). So, for us, there was nothing we wanted more on our babymoon than to just relax in paradise and slow down a little. That meant that most of our time in Anguilla was spent lounging on the beach, sipping drinks poolside, or dining at the island’s best restaurants! However, if you are looking for a more active babymoon, here is a list of 10 fun things to do in Anguilla!

Relaxed at the resort!

One of the best parts about staying at a luxury resort is that you never feel the need to leave! Kenny and I enjoyed basking in the Anguillan sun and enjoying our Piña Coladas (for him) and mocktails (for me).

Hired a photographer for a babymoon photoshoot!

This was one of the best things that we did in Anguilla on our babymoon! We did a quick one hour session at our hotel with Zuri Wilkes Photography, who was SO good!!!!!!! Super impressed with his photography and loved having these memories captured on our babymoon. Please let him know Jetset Christina sent you and wear your Kenny Flowers matching his and hers swim (of course!!!) We couldn’t be happier with the shots that he got!!

Is Anguilla safe for a babymoon? Is there Zika in Anguilla?

There is not active Zika in Anguilla right now, according to this source. And, even if there were, I would encourage you to talk to your doctor about Zika dangers and whether the threat is something that should keep you from traveling. For me, I’ve been to both Mexico and Colombia while pregnant, which are countries that have Zika, but not prevalently, and not in the touristy areas I went. I did a ton of research before going and found it personally nothing to be concerned about. The numbers are SO SO low (but I understand the fear after the outbreak of 2016!!! That was so long ago now, though). My doctor wasn’t concerned, but did tell us to wear bug spray (both me and my husband, since it can be transmitted between you!).

What I wore on our babymoon to Anguilla

You guys already know I’ve been LIVING in the new Aruba swimsuit while pregnant because it is soooo comfortable and stretchy! I’m wearing a S here.

One of my fav dresses! I wore it in Dubai as well.

Matching swimsuits are always a must.

Our new Bali dresses are sooo cute and comfy! I definitely recommend the resort dress for pregnant women because of the smocked back.

A matching vacation outfit with your baby daddy is a must when packing for the babymoon!

Our Lanai print looked perfect against the azure waters and yellow umbrellas at Malliouhana!

A good sun hat is a necessity on any tropical vacay!

And here’s the link to this outfit! Super comfy and chic!

What’s the best pregnancy safe sunscreen to bring with you on your babymoon?

I used Coola the whole time – Kenny and I are both addicted, and it’s pregnancy safe! There’s just no better sunscreen!

    Hi Christina,

Can I ask which areas you went to in Colombia while pregnant? I’m planning a trip there with my boyfriend in September, and am currently pregnant. I also heard about Zika not being so prevalent, but just wanted to know which areas you went to, just to get a bit more peace of mind. 🙂
I am of course meeting with my doctor to discuss the risks.
