The Best Luxury Resorts in Bora Bora and French Polynesia with Overwater Bungalows

A vacation or honeymoon in Bora Bora is what dreams are made of. This picture-perfect paradise in French Polynesia is one of my very favorite destinations I’ve ever been to. With its endless palm trees and infinite shades of blue, this mountainous island is easily one of the most beautiful in the world. Bora Bora is where dreamy isles meet rainforest peaks. It’s an island of sun-kissed days and warm, firey sunsets. Did I mention swoon-worthy overwater bungalows with glass-bottom floors?

Bora Bora is a quiet island that will leave you feeling anything but bored. Choose from water activities like scuba diving, snorkeling, paddleboarding or diving with sharks. Or land activities like hiking, biking or ATV’ing.

When it comes to a romantic honeymoon or bucket list vacation, nothing beats Tahiti, Mo’orea, Bora Bora and the rest of French Polynesia.

A lot of people wonder when traveling to Bora Bora if the overwater bungalows are worth the cost – and my advice is if you’re going to French Polynesia, you should definitely splurge for an overwater bungalow (at least for a few nights!!), staying in an overwater bungalow is one of the most epic, luxurious experiences you can have anywhere in the world, and an experience you’ll cherish forever.

Which is why I’ve got the guide to all the best of the best overwater bungalow resorts in Bora Bora and French Polynesia for you to make your decision on where to stay that much easier! Or harder….

Where to stay for the very best overwater bungalows in Bora Bora

Four Seasons Bora Bora

My pick of where to stay in Bora Bora if budget is no object? The FS, of course. Four Seasons Bora Bora is the ultimate in luxury and panache. Although you’ll find a lot of young honeymooners at this resort, there are also families and couples of every age looking for a private, secluded motu, an expansive beach and dreamy pools, and the one-of-a-kind Four Seasons service that delivers the Bora Bora dream.

St. Regis Bora Bora

St. Regis boasts the largest overwater bungalows of the best resorts in Bora Bora, and some of the best on-property snorkeling of anywhere. They have their own lagoonarium, as well as two dreamy main pools, an incredible spa, and amazing restaurants.

Conrad Bora Bora Nui

Wondering where did the Kardashians stay in Bora Bora? It was here at the Conrad Bora Bora Nui, which boasts some of the most incredible overwater bungalows of anywhere in the world. I stayed here on my recent trip to Bora Bora, which you can read all about here!

Hilton Mo’orea

Mo’orea is located just off of Bora Bora and is just as beautiful! It just doesn’t have the ‘name brand’ of Bora Bora, so you can find overwater bungalows at a more reasonable price than Bora Bora. I LOVED staying at the Hilton Mo’orea, and highhhhly recommend it. The bungalows, beach, activities, service, and FOOD were all incredible!
