The Perfect 10-Day Thailand Luxury Honeymoon Itinerary
Thailand is one of my all-time favorite luxury honeymoon destinations. It has everything you could possibly want for a romantic trip: beautiful beaches, incredible food, lush jungle landscapes, luxurious resorts, and a culture that feels both buzzing and deeply peaceful at the same time.
What I love most about Thailand for a honeymoon is that it offers so much variety in one trip. You can spend a few days relaxing in a tropical island paradise, explore temples and markets in the mountains of Northern Thailand, enjoy amazing food, and stay at some of the most beautiful luxury hotels in the world.
If you’re planning a honeymoon to Thailand, this 10-day itinerary combines the very best of the country while still allowing enough time to relax and enjoy the resorts.

The Perfect 10-Day Thailand Honeymoon Itinerary
Stop 1: Six Senses Yao Noi (4 Nights)
If you’ve ever seen those iconic limestone islands rising out of turquoise water, that’s Phang Nga Bay — and Six Senses Yao Noi is one of the best places in Thailand to experience it.
This resort sits on a quiet island between Phuket and Krabi and is known for its jaw-dropping views of the limestone karsts, which honestly feel straight out of a movie. This is by far my most recommended resort for Thailand honeymoons because it’s the absolute best.
The villas here are all private pool villas, many with panoramic views over the bay. And they’re STUNNING!
I mean does it get ANY dreamier????
This is the kind of place where you can expect to spend your days:
-
enjoying the beach and pools and full relaxation
-
doing sunrise yoga
-
taking boat trips through Phang Nga Bay
-
enjoying long, relaxed dinners overlooking the water
It’s peaceful, romantic, and incredibly special.
Stop 2: Phuket (2-3 Nights)
After the quiet island atmosphere of Six Senses Yao Noi, I recommend spending two nights in Phuket before heading north to Chiang Mai.
Phuket has Thailand’s best selection of luxury resorts, and it’s also the easiest place to fly to Chiang Mai from.
Two of my favorite honeymoon resorts here are:
Option 1: Trisara Phuket
Trisara is a beautiful boutique luxury resort with private pool villas overlooking the Andaman Sea. The service is INCREDIBLE and the food is unbeatable. We LOVED this resort, and it would be my #1 recommendation on mainland Phuket.
It feels:
-
intimate
-
romantic
-
incredibly peaceful
Every villa has:
-
a private infinity pool
-
huge ocean views
-
lots of privacy
The resort also has one of the best restaurants in Thailand: PRU, the island’s Michelin-starred restaurant.
This is perfect for couples who want a quiet, romantic Phuket experience.
Option 2: Amanpuri
If you’re looking for something more iconic, Amanpuri is one of the most legendary luxury resorts in Thailand.
This was the first Aman hotel ever built, and it still has that signature Aman feeling of serenity and understated luxury.
The property is larger than Trisara and offers:
-
beautiful pavilions and villas
-
a private beach
-
incredible wellness offerings
-
classic Aman architecture
Amanpuri feels a bit more like a resort, while Trisara feels more intimate and boutique.
Both are incredible honeymoon options!!!!
Jetset Tip: Book Your Honeymoon Hotels Through me for Free VIP Perks
One of the easiest ways to elevate your honeymoon (without paying more) is booking your hotels through a luxury travel advisor like me who has relationships with all the best luxury hotels in Thailand.
Many of the top honeymoon resorts in Thailand including all the ones on this list offer special partner perks and rates when your stay is booked through an advisor.
These free perks often include things like:
• Daily breakfast for two
• Resort or spa credits (often around $100)
• Room upgrades when available
• Early check-in and late checkout when available
• VIP welcome amenities for honeymooners
The best part is that the rate is the same or better as booking directly online, but you get tons of added value during your stay.
I book many of these Thailand honeymoon hotels for clients and can also help with choosing the best room categories, planning the itinerary, and arranging activities while you’re there.
If you’re planning a honeymoon to Thailand, I’m always happy to help make sure you get the best rooms and VIP treatment. I offer complimentary hotel bookings at no cost to you. I also offer full planning if you are looking for help on activities, flights, day-to-day flow and transportation as well, at an added fee! Email me here and we can chat more!
Stop 3: Chiang Mai (2-3 Nights)
You could spend the whole time in Phuket and honestly be very happy!!! But if you’re wanting more, to balance out the beach portion of the trip, for a little Thai cultrue hit, I’d ending a Thailand honeymoon in Chiang Mai.
Located in Northern Thailand, Chiang Mai is surrounded by mountains, jungle landscapes, and ancient temples. It’s stunning.
It offers a completely different side of Thailand.
Traveling to Chiang Mai you can:
-
visit beautiful Buddhist temples
-
explore local markets
-
take Thai cooking classes
-
visit ethical elephant sanctuaries
-
hike in the surrounding mountains
Some of my favorite luxury stays here include:
Chiang Mai is the perfect way to end a honeymoon because it adds culture and adventure after the beach portion of the trip.
Why I Skip Bangkok on a Honeymoon
Bangkok is an incredible city, but for a honeymoon itinerary I usually recommend skipping it unless you have extra time.
Bangkok is:
-
busy
-
chaotic
-
very urban
While it’s amazing for food and culture, it can feel overwhelming after a long international flight, after your wedding, when all you want to do is get to a beach and relax.
For honeymooners, I find it much more relaxing to start the trip somewhere peaceful like Six Senses Yao Noi instead.
But if you really want to see Bangkok and have a couple city nights on your honeymoon, you can always add 1–2 nights at the beginning or end of your trip!
Why Phuket is Better than Koh Samui for a Honeymoon
When planning a Thailand honeymoon, a lot of people are stuck deciding between Phuket and Koh Samui, two beautiful islands in Thailand.
While Koh Samui is beautiful, I usually recommend Phuket for honeymoon itineraries for a few reasons.
First, Phuket has many more luxury hotel options, including resorts like Six Senses Yao Noi (always my clients’ favorite in Thailand), Amanpuri, Trisara
Second, it’s much easier for flight connections, especially if you’re heading to Chiang Mai afterward.
And third, Phuket provides easier access to incredible places like Phang Nga Bay, which is one of the most beautiful areas in Thailand.
Should you go to both Koh Samui & Phuket on a Honeymoon?
I usually don’t recommend it.
While both Koh Samui and Phuket are beautiful islands, they offer very similar experiences – tropical beaches, luxury resorts, boat excursions, and island hopping. Because of that, most honeymooners will get more out of their trip by choosing one island destination in Thailand and combining it with somewhere different, like Chiang Mai!
Another reason is logistics. Koh Samui and Phuket aren’t next to each other, so getting between them typically requires a flight and travel time that eats up most of a day.
Instead, I recommend choosing one beach destination (usually Phuket area) and pairing it with a completely different experience like Chiang Mai, where you’ll get mountains, temples, night markets, and amazing food.
This way your honeymoon has more variety and feels like two completely different trips in one.
The Best Time of Year for a Thailand Honeymoon
The best time to visit Thailand is typically November through April, when the weather is dry, sunny, and warm.
These months offer the best beach conditions and the most reliable weather.
December through February is especially popular because temperatures are slightly cooler and humidity is lower.
The Worst Time to Honeymoon in Thailand
Thailand’s rainy season runs roughly from May through October, with the heaviest rain usually falling in September and October.
While it doesn’t rain all day every day, storms can be frequent and seas can be rough, which can impact boat excursions and beach days.
For a honeymoon, I usually recommend avoiding September in particular, as it’s typically the wettest month in many parts of the country.
The ultimate Thailand honeymoon itinerary day by day:
Days 1–4: Six Senses Yao Noi (Phang Nga Bay)
Days 5–6: Phuket (Trisara or Amanpuri)
Days 7–9: Chiang Mai
Day 10: Depart
This itinerary gives you:
-
iconic Thailand island scenery
-
a luxury beach resort experience
-
jungle + cultural exploration
Without feeling rushed.
Can you do Bali and Thailand in the same honeymoon?
Yes, you absolutely can combine Bali and Thailand on the same honeymoon, but you may not want to. Here’s why.
I know that while you’re in Southeast Asia, it can be tempting to want to do as much as possible in the trip.
The flights between the two are relatively manageable. From Phuket or Bangkok to Bali is usually around 4–5 hours, so it’s definitely doable within a longer Southeast Asia honeymoon itinerary.
But there’s one important thing to consider that many people don’t realize: their weather seasons are almost opposite!!!!
Thailand’s best weather is typically November through April, when it’s dry and sunny across places like Phuket and Phang Nga Bay.
Bali’s best weather, on the other hand, tends to be May through October, when the island is in its dry season with clear skies and lower humidity.
Because of this, if you plan a honeymoon that includes both destinations, there’s always a chance that one of them could be experiencing rainier weather.
For example:
-
January or February: amazing weather in Thailand, but Bali is in the middle of rainy season.
-
July or August or September: beautiful weather in Bali, but parts of Thailand can be experiencing monsoon season.
That doesn’t mean the trip won’t be incredible. Tropical rain often comes in short bursts rather than all-day storms. But it does mean you should be comfortable taking a bit of a weather gamble when combining the two.
Because of this, I usually recommend couples choose either a Thailand honeymoon or a Bali honeymoon, and then explore multiple regions within that country instead. I love both places and each deserves their own trip, in my opinion!!!!
