What to Pack for A Trip To Bora Bora!

If you’re planning a trip to Bora Bora, and looking for the best packing list for your trip, you came to the right place! From travel essentials, to key tips for your stay in Bora Bora, to cute outfit inspo for French Polynesia, I’ve got you covered!  During the day, you’ll want some resort-ready bikinis, cover ups, and sun hats, and at night, you’ll want some easy, flowy resort dresses and cute tropical dinner outfits for all those incredible photos you’ll take at sunset. In this Bora Bora packing guide, you’ll find all the best tips for packing for Bora Bora, as well as outfits for French Polynesia, from swimwear and cover ups, to resort dresses and vacation outfit inspo from my own trips to the islands!

Packing list for Bora Bora

Reef-safe sunscreen – Please, please respect the tropical reefs of French Polynesia by bringing reef-safe sunscreen. This is my favorite brand.

Refillable Water Bottle – Save on expensive resort water costs and bring a refillable water bottle that you fill up at the resort gym!

Bug Spray – Here is a good one with DEET, and here is one of my favorite natural bug sprays as well.

Wide-brimmed sun hat

These are my favorite sun hats for a trip to Bora Bora (and the ones I’m ALWAYS getting asked about!!!)

Lack of Color Sunnydip Fray Boater Hat in Seagrass

Other sun hats – I like to bring both a wide brimmed hat and more of a bucket hat because sometimes that’s more comfortable while laying on a lounge chair!

L*SPACE Isadora Hat in Natural Stripe

Underwater Camera

You’ll also definitely need an underwater camerathis is the one I use –  all the details on what I use for all of my photography is here (and those awesome half in/half out underwater photos you’ve seen on my Instagram

Do you need water shoes for Bora Bora?

If you plan on staying at your resort, then no not really. But if you’re going to be exploring other beaches/islands around French Polynesia, or your feet are sensitive to more rocky sands, some of the best snorkeling spots you’ll DEFINITELY need some water shoes. Here are some good ones on Amazon.

Should I bring a snorkel mask?

I do like bringing my own snorkel mask vs relying on hotel masks, but that’s up to you! Your hotel will definitely have masks you can borrow, too if you want to save space!
