The Best Romantic Valentine’s Day Getaways

Need an excuse for a relaxing romantic getaway with your loved one? Enter VALENTINE’S DAY. Whether you were together 24/7 in quarantine driving each other up the wall, or separated by border closures, relationships in 2020 were anything but easy. And, honestly, just making it through 2020 together is a HUGE testament to your relationship! Maybe you don’t always make a big deal out of Valentine’s Day, but this year who couldn’t use a little extra lovin’?? Instead of buying those chocolates we all know we don’t need at this point, all you need is a sweet little note with three little words…Pack your bags”.

Who doesn’t want to unwind against a beautiful backdrop with the one you love. Put your phones on airplane mode or delete the gmail/news apps from your phone for the weekend, and soak in some quality time with the person you’ve been able to count on through these crazy times.

From weekend escapes, to a few more far flung destinations, these are some of the most romantic spots for a Valentine’s getaway in 2021.

BIG SUR, CALIFORNIA

McWay Waterfall

Immerse yourself in the redwood forests and dramatic pacific views in Big Sur. The resorts like Ventana Big Sur and Post Ranch Inn, you’ll soon be forgetting all of those quarantine arguments as you bliss out in the heated pool surrounded by nature. Check out McWay Waterfall and Bixby bridge while you’re there, if you’re up for a challenge try the 8-mile Andrea Molera Loop.

Or cozy up in a cliffside Airbnb

ELEUTHERA, BAHAMAS

An easily accessible weekend destination from the east coast, an escape to Eleuthera, Bahamas is the tranquil beach trip you’ve been dreaming about.

For a luxurious oasis on an unspoiled pink sand beach, stay at the Autograph Collection’s stunning French Leave Resort.

Or, for an amazing and unique experience, stay at The Other Side— a luxury and eco-friendly glamping property on Eleuthera. Here you’ll find dreamy safari-style tents surrounded by deserted beaches and lush landscapes. Do some yoga by the pool, soak in your outdoor bathtub, or hop on a paddle-board in search of sea turtles. Dine on farm to table Caribbean fare and carefully crafted cocktails with ingredients from the hotel garden.

CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA

Dripping with southern charm, Charleston sets the bar high for romantic getaways (I mean there’s a reason the Notebook was filmed here). Start your day with one of my Charleston foodie favorites – brunch at Butcher and Bee, or grab some charcuterie at Goat Sheep Cow and head to Folly beach for a private picnic. Wander through the historic streets, find socially distant live music at Firefly (every Saturday) and then grab a craft beer on the patio at Frothy Beard Brewery. For the perfect end to any night, cozy up to a romantic dinner at Fig and Indaco (make sure to reserve in advance).

Where to stay in Charleston:

Book a room at The Hotel Bennett – Charleston’s newest luxury hotel. It’s grand, but quaint at the same time… in true Charleston fashion. And my favorite part is there’s a to-die-for rooftop pool on the top floor.

Or stay in the iconic Dewberry where you can get their “Be Well, Stay Well” package that includes a bottle of chilled Prosecco on arrival, a $300 Spa credit and a late checkout!

If you’d prefer your own private historic cottage, check out these Airbnbs:

SEDONA, ARIZONA

Sedona is for the couple who wants beautiful landscapes and outdoor access, but also a bit of luxury. With miles of hiking trails, endless outdoor activities and world class resorts like the L’Auberge, you’ll wonder why you hadn’t done this sooner. Explore Red Rock State park and then dine at Salt Rock for locally sourced plates and insane views. Once you’ve gotten enough adventure (or none at all) make a day trip to Verde Valley to taste some of the local wines followed by a couples massage. If you want a more private desert home you can’t go wrong with either of these airbnbs

This romantic airbnb with stunning views and a hot tub

or this one with a salt pool!

ZION, UTAH

Anyone interested in adventuring in one of the country’s most otherworldly landscapes should consider Zion. Drive along the Zion Canyon Scenic route for views of Angels Landing and The Narrows (this route has many hiking/biking trails off of it). When it comes to where to stay, you MUST check out Under Canvas Zion. The only place you’ll ever see me camping… Under Canvas Zion is a glamping retreat offering not only the most dreamy beds—kept warm with the tents’ log burners—but unfettered access to the majestic national parks around it!!!

CATSKILLS, NEW YORK

Scribner’s Lodge

Get cozy in a peaceful snow-covered landscape just a few hours outside the city. Curl up by the fire with a good book and a cup of hot apple cider at Scribner’s Lodge. This adorable 38-room boutique hotel is offering a package that features chalet-chic accommodations, a free bottle of champagne, and a prix-fixe dinner for two at Prospect, their signature restaurant—for just $200-Can’t beat it! Plus, traditional Seedish saunas..

SUN VALLEY, IDAHO

If you’re in need of some fresh mountain air, a cozy cabin and apre ski-look no further. This season at ski resorts across the country are limiting the number of people allowed on the mountain due to COVID, but this actually works in your favor! Once you reserve your ski days, there will be shorter lift lines on the mountain so that you can get the most out of each day. If skiing isn’t for you, try snow shoeing or snow mobiling, then ride the gondola up to the top of the mountain for Fondue at The Roadhouse! When it comes to where to stay, you can’t beat a chic chalet like this:

Secluded home in Sun Valley

SANTA BABARA, CALIFORNIA

Feel like a weekend of beaching, wine tasting, and exploring one of California’s best coastal towns? Escape the city to a beach cottage on the Santa Barbara coast. Salt water is always the solution! Get some much needed R&R with your boo or even extend the trip into a work-cation by the water. You won’t want to go anywhere once you get to one of these cottages:

THE BIG ISLAND, HAWAII

What’s more secluded and romantic than an off-the-grid luxury treehouse in the jungles of Hawaii?? Just a hop, skip and a jump for my West Coast couples–Whether it’s this year, or a plan to look forward to for next year. Even just having a vacation to plan has been shown to increase mood and plus you’ll have to book this romantic hideout well in advance. The big island of Hawaii has one of the most diverse climates on earth, you could technically snowboard in the morning atop their highest peak, and surf in the afternoon. From desert to rainforest, the activities and sights are endless. Hike a volcano, snorkel along the coast or search for waterfalls in Hilo.

Jungle treehouses not your thing? Check out one of my absolute favorite resorts the Mauna Lani, a brand-new Auberge resort on the Big Island – an especially amazing resort if you or your significant other loves golf.
