Whether you are expecting twins or if you’re a pregnant parent like I was looking for the best double stroller option for two kids, since you have another little one on the way, this post is for you! There’s no doubt that as a parent of two littles, you’ll need a great double stroller to take on your daily adventures! And researching the perfect double stroller is one of the main to-do-list items before baby comes (or babies come!)! If this is your second child, sometimes, your single-child stroller can double as a double stroller, but it may not be the ideal set up or configuration for what you’re looking for (more on this below, this is what happened to us). And, if you’re having twins, you’re definitely going to need a GREAT double stroller! So, I went ahead and researched, tested, and done allllll the legwork to bring you the lowdown on the best double strollers out there, for every parent, tailored to your different needs and preferences. And of course with my own opinions and reviews as to what I thought was best for us as well!

What to consider when choosing the best double stroller

Seating arrangement

In choosing what double stroller to get, here are the things I consider: First, seating arrangement is key. Do you want a side-by-side configuration or a tandem (stacked one in front of the other)? The former can offer easier access to (and view of) both kids, while the latter is typically more compact and easier to navigate through narrow spaces. Consider your daily routines, what kind of sidewalks or terrain you go on, and your typical outings to decide which arrangement suits you and your little family best! For us, we usually use our ‘main’ stroller (as opposed to our travel stroller) on our daily neighborhood walks and walks to the park, which means we are on sidewalks and wide, paved roads. So a side-by-side was a better fit for us as the one-on-top of the other configuration might be a better fit if you are going on routes with narrow pathways, or need to maneuver small doorways, etc a lot.

Maneuverability

Next, smooth and seamless maneuverability is a non-negotiable quality in a GOOD double stroller! Especially when you have two wiggling little ones in there! You’ll want a stroller that’s easy to push and steer, even with two kids on board. Look for features like swiveling front wheels (I go through the smoothest, easiest-to-roll ones below!), adjustable handlebars, and a lightweight frame. Trust me, your back and arms will thank you!

From-birth capability

And lastly, from-birth capability is a game-changer if you have a newborn. Does the stroller you have your eye on have a bassinet attachment? This feature lets you stroll comfortably with your newborn lying flat, making daily family walks a breeze!

The Best Double Strollers to Choose if You Have Multiple Kids

Bugaboo Donkey 5 Duo

The Bugaboo Donkey 5 Duo is the Rolls-Royce of double strollers!!! This was the stroller most highly recommended to us by friends and my instagram community, so I had high hopes when we went to try it versus the others on this list. And I’m happy to report that it WAS by far our favorite. And has continued to be for a year plus of using it with my two kiddos. It is the smoothest ride, the BEST configuration (side-by-side!) and just LOOKS and FEELS so luxe! It’s pricey, don’t get me wrong, but it is BEAUTIFUL. If you have kids of different ages, the side-by-side seating is perfect for a toddler and a baby, or twins. The Donkey 5 Duo comes with a bassinet and a seat, making it ideal for families with kids of different ages. Your kiddos can sit up straight when awake, recline when relaxed, or lie completely flat when fast asleep! If you have twins, opt for the Donkey 5 Twin. Things I love: the smoothness of the stroll / maneuverability!!!! The side by side configuration (SO MUCH BETTER than any other configuration in my opinion, the ability to use it with a bassinet, the look and feel, the fact that it’s not TOO wide (can fit through a standard doorway!)

Things to consider: Because it’s a side-by-side configuration, the seats are a bit narrower, which is something the sales associate warned us of. However, we put our HUGE 2 year old in the seats when testing and he was comfortable!

If this one seems too wide for you or you want more maneuverability, Bugaboo also has this tandem option where one is on top of the other. But I prefer the side-by-side and I don’t think it’s too wide! (it still fits in a doorway!)

Thule Urban Glide

Thule Urban Glide is another great option, especially for active families. It’s designed for jogging and off-road adventures, as well, with large wheels and excellent suspension! The sleek design and ease of maneuvering make it a favorite among parents who love to stay active. It’s designed for ultimate maneuverability, and features a sleek, lightweight frame and large 16-inch air-filled tires, making it ideal for both city strolls and rugged trails. The swivel front wheel ensures easy navigation through crowded streets, and it locks in place for jogging. Don’t forget to check out the bassinet attachment, making it suitable from birth.

Pros: I love its sleek design, lightweight frame, and excellent maneuverability!! Its large, all-terrain wheels and suspension also make it a dream for both city strolls and outdoor walks. And has great adjustable handlebar, spacious seats, and ample storage space. And from-birth option!!!

Cons: It’s a bit pricier than the other strollers, but it’s beautiful. Additionally, its larger size when folded might pose a challenge for those with limited storage space or smaller vehicles.

Bumbleride Indie Twin

If you’re looking for a more budget-friendly alternative to the Bugaboo Donkey, the Bumbleride Indie Twin is worth considering. It has similar features to the Donkey but at a significantly lower price point. You still get a high-quality, versatile stroller that can handle various terrains without breaking the bank! Also, this eco-friendly stroller is designed for all terrains, thanks to its air-filled tires and all-wheel suspension, ensuring a smooth ride for your little ones. The independent seats and canopies offer great flexibility, perfect for siblings of different ages. Plus, it folds compactly for easy storage and transport. With a focus on sustainability, the Indie Twin features fabrics made from recycled materials, making it a smart and eco-conscious choice for families on the go.

Pros: Parents will love its sturdy build, with the all-terrain capability, large, air-filled tires and all-wheel suspension system, providing a smooth ride on various surfaces. (Great for outdoor activities!) It also offers comfort and safety with its five-point harness system and fully reclining seats, which include adjustable leg rests perfect for naps on the go! Half the price of other competitors like the Bugaboo!

Cons: At 36 lbs, it is definitely heavier than many other double strollers (almost 5 lbs heavier than the competitor Bugaboo), making it a bit problematic for some parents to lift and carry. It is always used as a double stroller vs being able to be used as a single (like the Bugaboo is). Since the Bumbleride Indie Twin has fixed seats there are not as many different configuration options as the Donkey5. Seats are fixed and cannot face you or come off. It is also one inch wider than the Bugaboo donkey5.

Voya Radio Flyer Wagon

The Radio Flyer Wagon is a fun and versatile option for two kids. While it’s not a traditional stroller, it’s perfect for older toddlers and can be a hit to take to the park or beach. It’s roomy, and the kids will love the novelty of riding in a wagon. Some people swear by their wagons and don’t need a traditional double stroller! It really depends on your lifestyle. I love how it has spacious seating for two kids with padded seats and legroom, making it comfortable for longer outings. However, it’s not suitable for newborns and lacks the maneuverability of a standard stroller.

What to know: Suitable for babies, toddlers, and kids ages 6+ months (so no newborn capability)

Accessories:

Pros of a wagon over a double stroller: Storage is plenty and incredible, kids actually want to get into it and tend to enjoy themselves in it, they feel less restricted and confined!

Cons of choosing a wagon over a double stroller: Your child won’t nap in a wagon like they will on-the-go in a stroller. Big and bulky!! And a wagon doesn’t really work until the second child can sit up well.

Zoe Twin Double Stroller

The Zoe Twin Double Stroller is a fantastic lightweight option that’s easy to maneuver and perfect for travel or life at home. Weighing just 17 pounds, it’s easy to handle and fits through standard doorways. Its compact design makes it ideal for maneuvering through tight spaces, while the large canopy provides excellent sun protection.

Pros: Lightweight design, making it easy to maneuver and transport and also offers a compact fold, which is convenient for storage and travel. It also has great storage space and a large canopy for sun protection, providing comfort and convenience for both parents and children.

Cons: Has limited suspension, which can result in a less smooth ride on rougher terrains. Some users also note that the seats are narrower compared to other double strollers, which might be less comfortable for older or larger children.

UPPAbaby Vista V2

We LOVE our UPPAbaby Vista for one kid – it’s a fantastic stroller with a very sleek design, modern design, and smooth ride. We have used ours EVERY day since our first-born was born, and have zero complaints – it’s fabulous. And, I have heard from others that they like it just fine for 2 kids, too! It’s really up to you and your preferences. However, it’s my journalist due diligence to give you my opinion that the seating arrangement for two kids can be a bit awkward, which is why we decided to upgrade to a double stroller once our second little one arrived. The configuration options are limited on the Uppababy Vista – and the only option with a bassinet is to have the baby in the front and toddler closer to you / upright and facing you. I found this awkward and not my ideal, as my toddler likes to look out and see the world and I wanted to be able to keep an eye on the baby! But it’s really up to you and your preferences! Pros: Absolutely love the versatility, growing from a single to a double stroller with multiple configurations and generous storage basket that makes outings convenient.

Cons: Its heavy and bulky design makes it challenging to lift and navigate through crowded spaces. Also, limited compatibility with non-UPPAbaby car seats may require extra adapters and its large size can be problematic for storage.

Bugaboo Kangaroo

If you’re looking for a single stroller that converts later into a double stroller, this might be the best pick on the market right now!

Pros: Single-to-Tandem stroller where the bassinet is on top of the toddler seat, which is unlike the Vista, and in my opinion a better set up!

Cons: None that I can tell! unless you want the side-by-side set up for a double stroller, in which case I’d go with the other Bugaboo – the Donkey!

BOB Gear Revolution Flex 3.0 Duallie Double Jogging Stroller

For active parents, the BOB Gear Revolution Flex 3.0 Duallie Double Jogging Stroller is a great option. Its maneuverability is top-notch, practically steering and turning by itself, thanks to its mountain-bike-style suspension and air-filled tires. Handbrakes help you safely navigate downhill paths. The designated foot space ensures kids don’t kick each other and accommodates muddy shoes. Both seats recline to a flat position, perfect for simultaneous naps, while the stroller’s 10 storage pockets, including a large cargo net and dedicated compartments for phones and cups, provide ample storage. Nuna Travl vs Uppababy G-Link 2:

Families with newborns will love the Nuna TRVL dubl since it is infant car seat compatible and suited for use from birth. Families with older children will get the most bang for their buck from the UPPAbaby G-Link V2 which is lighter weight overall and more compact, but still offers an inch more of backrest space compared to the Nuna.

It’s unlikely a double stroller would fit in the overhead bin, ever. But I would always personally gate-check my stroller anyway! It’s so much easier – and you have enough carry ons on the plane when traveling with a baby! Can I use a double stroller for jogging?

Absolutely! Double strollers like the BOB double or the Thule Urban Glide are designed for active parents who love jogging and off-road adventures. It has large wheels and excellent suspension for a smooth ride. Just keep in mind jogging strollers aren’t recommended until at least 8 months of age.

Which double stroller did we go with for a toddler and a newborn?

We tested all of these and decided to go with the Bugaboo Donkey 5 Duo for our every day double stroller, which we LOVED for it’s smooth ride, the from-birth capability, and the arrangement of the newborn and toddler side by side. It feels truly LUXURIOUS and is often called the ‘Rolls Royce’ of strollers, so even though it’s pricey, I find it worth the splurge for how often we use it!!!!!

We were most interested in a stroller we could use around home / our neighborhood where we walk every day, so I was specifically looking for that (and something with a bassinet) vs. a travel-specific double stroller.

However, we did decide to also get a travel double stroller! We plan on traveling with the UPPAbaby G-Link! Since the Bugaboo Donkey is definitely too bulky for travel, and we needed a more super lightweight umbrella-like travel stroller as well given how much we do travel! I think the Silver Cross Jet and the Nuna TRVL DBL are also both great options for a travel double stroller.
