My husband and I LOVE using our jogging strollers for more than just jogging with baby! A good jogging stroller is made for all-terrain, which means it can be used on the sand, in the snow, or on rockier surfaces. We live in Charleston, South Carolina, so we are always using our jogging stroller when we take beach walks or even on Saturdays at the beach when we want our little one to be able to take a mid-day nap! Having a jogging stroller is a MUST in my opinion! We also sometimes take it traveling with us versus our bigger ‘home’ stroller because it’s more sturdy than a typical travel stroller, but not as bulky as our main one.

For this blog, I’ll reviewing the BOB Gear Alterrain™ Pro Jogging Stroller which is the one we have and the most recommended jogging stroller among the three.

 

The UPPAbaby Ridge is another popular jogging stroller that has a sleek, durable aluminum frame, that is all about style and strength. The air-filled tires and advanced suspension system make for the smoothest ride ever. The handlebar is adjustable and has these super comfy grips—perfect for those long jogs. And let’s not forget the ergonomic seat with extra padding and a five-point harness. Your kiddo will feel like royalty cruising in this stroller.

These two strollers look pretty similar, right? Which is why I needed to write this post!!! While they ARE similar in ways, there are also key differences that may make one more right for you – in fact, I have both and my husband and I both prefer one over the other!!!!!! (We get into which below!) 

 

Uppababy RIDGE vs. BOB : Performance and Maneuverability

When it comes to smoothness of ride and maneuverability across all terrains, the Uppababy Ridge wins with its advanced suspension system, making it an incredibly smooth ride, so even on the bumpiest paths so baby feels ultra comfy. I like how the swivel front wheel, which locks for better control, makes it a breeze to navigate through sandy beaches, crowded streets and jogging trails. It’s slightly narrower profile compared to the BOB means it’s easier to get through tight spots without sacrificing stability. And I just find it smoother and easier to handle!!!!

The BOB Gear Alterrain™ Pro Jogging Stroller is sleek and well-made as well and if it was the only jogging stroller we had, I wouldn’t know any different! We would love it! But RIDGE wins here, and we always find ourselves reaching for the Uppababy one over the BOB.

BOB vs. Uppababy RIDGE: Convenience and Storage

Busy parents need convenience, and both the BOB Gear Alterrain™ Pro and Uppababy Ridge deliver in spades. One of my favorite features is the one-hand quick-fold mechanism on both of these —because let’s face it, we often have only one hand free when we’re dealing with babies and toddlers! Both strollers fold down in seconds, making them easy to store in your car or carry onto public transportation. Both have extra-large cargo baskets and LOTS of storage pockets, perfect for stashing everything from diapers and snacks to your personal items. 

One thing my husband prefers about the RIDGE over the BOB is the placement of the cupholder and cell phone pockets, they’re more convenient than the placement on the BOB (in his opinion!) 

Safety Features

Both the BOB Gear Alterrain™ Pro  and The Uppababy Ridge have comfy seats designed for maximum comfort and support, with a lay-flat recline feature that allows your child to sit upright or lie back and nap (we use this all the time for beach naps!). So, which jogging stroller is the best? Both the BOB Gear Alterrain™ Pro and the Uppababy Ridge have their strengths and are excellent choices for active parents. The BOB is rugged and reliable, perfect for serious runners tackling various terrains. But, after putting both to the test, our personal favorite is the Uppababy Ridge!! It offers a smoother ride for our toddler Harrison and I love that it has that oh-so-handy side pocket for your phone and keys, adding a layer of convenience.
