There’s a certain la dolce vita energy about Italy that makes it the ultimate honeymoon destination. Maybe it’s the stunning landscapes, delicious Italian food, and that unbeatable Italian romance everywhere you turn. Not only did my husband and I honeymoon in Italy after our wedding, but we’ve visited for many other trips as well, and it continues to be one of my favorite places in the world, for every type of vacation – but especially for a honeymoon. From cliffside retreats in Amalfi to luxurious hideaways in Tuscany, to chic getaways in Capri, these are my top picks for the absolute best, most romantic hotels for a honeymoon in Italy.

Hotel Santa Caterina in Amalfi

Waking up at the dreamy Hotel Santa Caterina feels like you’re living in an Italian dream! This luxurious hotel is located on the most stunning setting right on the Mediterranean sea, offering killer seaside views and a traditional vibe that’s all about old-school Italian luxury with a modern twist. You will love sipping Italian coffee overlooking the Amalfi Coast from your private balcony, and having nothing to worry about except which flavor bellini you’ll try poolside today (JETSET tip: get the strawberry ‘rossini’).

Plus, their beach club is the perfect secluded spot for getting a mediterranean suntan or taking a crisp, refreshing jump into the sea. Foodies will also be in heaven here – the poolside pizza is my FAVORITE and I still dream about it, and the buffet breakfast is straight out of a DREAM. The location of Hotel Santa Caterina makes it an ideal base for an Italian honeymoon, in my opinion, because you are on the sea, and you can access the town of Amalfi by walking (which is fun to shop around and explore). You can also hop on a ferry from the Amalfi port right nearby to get to Capri, Positano, etc. Or do it ultra-luxe and get a private boat to pick you up right from the hotel (we arranged this through the hotel concierge and can’t recommend doing it this way enough!) This way, you get a private boat tour while you make your way to Positano or Capri and it’s so much fun.

Pool & Sea Access: The Santa Caterina has the best seaside pool area where you will want to waste all of your days away sunbathing.

Restaurants: The hotel’s seaside restaurant Al Mare serves up fresh seafood and classic Mediterranean dishes right by the sea. For more formal dining, the Glicine restaurant offers a Michelin-starred menu with panoramic views of Amalfi.
