My Custom Wedding Invitations with Gus and Ruby Letterpress!

When it came to planning my wedding, designing our invitations was hands down my favorite part!

But, it was also one of the most stressful in the beginning, when I had no idea where to get wedding invitations made, or how to go about custom designing invitations and making my invite dreams come to life. My fiance Kenny and I are both creative entrepreneurs so I knew I wanted our wedding invitations to reflect our personalities, and our destination wedding’s personality (We are having a destination wedding in Maui, Hawaii)!

I knew I wanted something unique, elegant, for our wedding invites, and anything but BORING, so I scoured the internet searching for the best wedding invitations and the best stationery companies that could help us design the PERFECT wedding invitation suite.

And it was really, really hard.

I looked on Minted (which I used for my Save the Dates), but everything just seemed so mass-produced. I couldn’t believe how pretty much all of the invitation companies out there just seemed dull. These were for our WEDDING – I wanted our invitation suite to feel unique and special.

And then I found Gus and Ruby!!! I don’t even remember how I came across Gus and Ruby letterpress, or what page google search I was on after days of searching, but the second I went to their website, everything clicked.

Started by two best friends, and named after their respective dogs, Gus and Ruby, Gus and Ruby letterpress is custom design and print studio and duo of brick & mortar retail stores located in historic, coastal New England. They specialize in creating one-of-a-kind pieces of art in the form of wedding invites & other special event invitations, birth announcements and classic correspondence.

Their instagram is full of dreamy wedding invitation suites, each with their own uniqueness and special character. In the very first phone call with Sam, one of the founders, I knew they just get it. This is a small business with a big heart, and a HUGE passion for everything invitations and letterpress. You can feel their passion in their work, and they are the absolute sweetest to work with. They specialize in QUALITY, custom invitation suites that will wow your guests, and they don’t cut corners.

I couldn’t believe how seamless the custom invitation process with them was, fully online! And I’m not exaggerating when I say it was my favorite part of wedding planning – it was SO much fun, and so easy, working with them!

While I don’t have all the beautiful professional photos of OUR invitation suite just yet (since our wedding got postponed due to COVID, and now we’re not doing our destination wedding in Maui until 2021), I did take some quick ones myself below!

Gus and Ruby did such an amazing job at taking our vision and making it even better than I could have possibly imagined. We wanted tropical elegance, and creativity with our invites, and they delivered tenfold. with all of the gold letterpress details, the gorgeous elegant navy and white details, and all of the little touches they created, I am still SO in love with our invitations, and we got SO many compliments from friends and family saying they were the best invitations they had ever seen!

Our wedding invitation calligraphy was done by Megan Fahy Calligraphy – who is SO supremely talented, and I would use again in a heartbeat. The vintage stamps I found on this site – highly recommend
