Comparing Rosewood Mayakoba vs Rosewood Las Ventanas al Paraíso in Cabo, Mexico

If you’re dreaming of a luxurious getaway to one of Mexico’s most stunning resorts, then you’ve likely considered two incredible hotels on opposite coasts of Mexico: Rosewood Mayakoba in Riviera Maya and Rosewood Las Ventanas al Paraíso in Los Cabos. Both properties are absolutely beautiful, and we had the BEST time at both – but they are definitely different! So I’m here to help you decide which is best for your trip.

Let me take you through what makes each resort stand out, so you can decide which one is perfect for your next escape, whether you’re traveling with a family, as a couple, or with friends!

Rosewood Mayakoba: A Slice of Jungle Luxury in Riviera Maya

Location:
Nestled in the lush, tropical landscape of the Riviera Maya, Rosewood Mayakoba is just 40 minutes from the Cancun airport, this sanctuary is on the beach but also built into the mangroves and the surrounding jungle, giving you a sense of being enveloped by nature, fully immersed in luxury.

Vibe & Atmosphere:
If you’re looking for an idyllic jungle escape, then Mayakoba is for you. The resort is spread out over 1,600 acres, and with its lush greenery, winding canals, you feel more like you’re staying in an ultra-luxe treehouse than in a traditional beachfront resort. Whether you’re out on a boat exploring the mangroves, or lounging at the beach club Aqui Me Quedo, there’s a sense of peace and exclusivity that you feel throughout the entire property.

Accommodations:
The villas at Rosewood Mayakoba blend sleek modernity with the natural beauty of the jungle. Think stunning floor-to-ceiling windows, private pools, private terraces, and outdoor showers—everything you could want in a Mexico vacation! For something extra special, the beachfront villas are an absolute showstopper with direct beach access – this is our favorite room category to stay in when we travel to Rosewood Mayakoba as a family!

Dining & Activities:
Mayakoba offers some seriously delicious food options. From mexican-meets-sushi dinners at Agave Azul (my fav!) to gourmet dining at Casa del Lago (the fresh ceviche here is a must-try), foodies will be in heaven. When it comes to activities, you can do it all: From a private boat tour to sunrise yoga on the beach, golf, cenotes, and even visiting nearby eco-parks like Xcaret for a taste of local culture.

The service:

The service sets every Rosewood apart – and both Rosewood Mayakoba and Rosewood Las Ventanas Al Paraiso have 7-star service that will WOW you.

Babies & Families:

Rosewood Mayakoba provides the following free of charge during your stay:
In-transportation car seat(s) according to age (available with Rosewood-provided
transportation)

Any other kid-friendly amenities to know about?
Upon request, the butler can arrange a special Baby Bubble Bath amenity at an
extra cost of USD $50. This experience features an expertly drawn and decorated
bubble bath, complete with ballons, dedicated kids’ robe, and other special touches.
The robe can also be personalized upon request (at an extra cost) and given at least
two days’ notice.

Why Choose Rosewood Mayakoba:
This resort is ideal for FAMILIES!!!!! It is one of the most kid-friendly luxury resorts I’ve ever been to – and they make every kid’s trip super memorable with all of their adorable service touches.

Rosewood Las Ventanas al Paraíso: The Ultimate in Oceanfront Opulence

Location:
Tucked away on the stunning Sea of Cortez in Los Cabos, Rosewood Las Ventanas al Paraíso (which translates to Windows to Paradise) feels like a piece of paradise on earth. The decor is BREATHTAKINGLY beautiful – and feels like you’re at the chicest hacienda in Mexico. The attention to detail and design combined with a dramatic backdrop of the sweeping views of the crystal-clear waters, this resort leaves you in awe.

Vibe & Atmosphere:
If you’re looking for the epitome of ultra-luxury, elegance, and a little bit of Hollywood glamour, this is your place. Las Ventanas al Paraíso is all about opulence, with a modern twist on traditional Mexican design. The resort is an oasis of calm and beauty, with beautiful gardens, infinity pools, and sweeping terraces. It feels like a world in itself, offering impeccable service at every turn. It’s all about elevated elegance and offering the highest standards in hospitality and relaxation.

Accommodations:
The lowest rate, basic accommodations here are nothing to write home about, and I would not recommend – but the oceanfront villa accommodations here are absolutely stunning!!! You definitely want to book a level up when booking here, vs the lowest rate room. Each villa and suite is designed to exude the ultimate in sophistication, with an emphasis on privacy and space. The Oceanview Penthouse Suites are absolute showstoppers, featuring private plunge pools, expansive terraces, and 24/7 butler service.

Dining & Activities:
Las Ventanas is known for its top-tier restaurants, from the Mediterranean-inspired Arbol restaurant to the seafood-focused Sea Grill, where you can dine with your toes in the sand. And if you’re in the mood for something extra indulgent, why not opt for a private tequila tasting or a cooking class with the resort’s world-class chefs? And my favorite restaurant on property was actually the casual bar by the lobby – which offers Mexican food and SUSHI! It was soooo delicious that we ate there twice!

For activities, there’s no shortage of options of things to do in Los Cabos (but you’ll find it hard to leave the resort!), from whale watching (seasonal) to golf, art tours, and indulgent spa treatments. You can also take a private yacht out to explore the Sea of Cortez or just lounge by one of the gorgeous pools with a margarita in hand.

Why Choose Rosewood Las Ventanas al Paraíso:
If you’re looking for an extravagant, exclusive experience where every detail is designed for your pleasure, Las Ventanas is your dream destination. Perfect for those seeking ultimate relaxation, fine dining, and an air of Hollywood-style luxury, this resort is ideal for honeymooners, groups of friends, and anyone ready to live out a world-class escape.

Key Differences Between Rosewood Las Ventanas and Rosewood Mayakoba

Setting & Landscape:

Rosewood Mayakoba is nestled in the heart of the jungle and mangroves, with a focus on eco-luxury and nature immersion.

Rosewood Las Ventanas al Paraíso is perched on the stunning coastline of Los Cabos, offering dramatic ocean views and desert-meets-sea landscapes.

Atmosphere & Vibe:

Mayakoba leans toward a serene, secluded vibe with a focus on nature, privacy, and tranquility.

Las Ventanas offers more of an upscale, glamorous, and “seen and be seen” kind of experience, with an emphasis on luxury and indulgence.

Pools & Beach Club

The beach is swimmable in Mayakoba, but not in Los Cabos, so if you’re an ocean lover or imagine swimming in the ocean, Mayakoba is a better bet. Also, I love the beach club at Mayakoba! The beach-chair set up at the main pool at Las Ventanas is on a big lawn, versus chairs in the sand, which leaves something to be desired. BUT I did love the Lazy River pool at Las Ventanas – it’s quiet and beautiful and fun! This pool was the perfect set-up for our family each day!

My son and my husband at the Lazy River (in their daddy and son matching swimsuits of course!)

Ideal Traveler:

If you love nature, peace, and a bit of adventure, Mayakoba is perfect.

For those seeking oceanfront glamour, world-class service, and a more cosmopolitan feel, Las Ventanas is the go-to.

The Room:

Honestly both rooms I’ve had at both of these hotels are BREATHTAKING. I loved the private plunge pool at our Mayakoba beachfront studio suite, and I loved the two-story terrace of our Las Ventanas oceanfront suite.

Dining & Activities:

Both resorts have incredible food!!!! If I had to choose one over the other, I might give a slight edge to Las Ventanas – but both resort’s food is SO good!

Activity-wise, you’ll find no shortage of things to do in both places. Just ask the concierge for a list of available activities to choose from.

Golf:
There is golf directly on property at both Rosewood Mayakoba and Rosewood Las Ventanas – so either is a great choice for golfers looking for a golf travel destination!

Kid Friendliness

Rosewood Mayakoba has a kids club whereas Rosewood Las Ventanas does not! While you won’t feel out of place at Las Ventanas with a little one, Mayakoba is more kid-centric.

Rosewood Las Ventanas vs Mayakoba : Which One is Best for You?

Both Rosewood Mayakoba and Rosewood Las Ventanas al Paraíso are unparalleled in their own right, but they cater to different kinds of luxury travel lovers.

  • Rosewood Mayakoba is perfect for families, those who love to swim in the ocean, and the nature lover who enjoys a tranquil, jungle escape with long beaches and jungley canals.
  • Rosewood Las Ventanas al Paraíso is great for couples and romantics, as well as adult groups – and is ideal for those seeking the very best in seaside opulence & world-class service.

I will absolutely go back to both as I think Cabo and Riviera Maya feel totally different and are different trips! If you’re looking for the first trip with a baby, or an ultra-easy kid-friendly getaway, I’d go with Rosewood Mayakoba. But we thoroughly enjoyed Rosewood Las Ventanas as a family too! There is just a little more to do for kiddos at Mayakoba. If you are looking for a getaway on the west coast of Mexico, and specifically want to be in Cabo (who doesn’t!?) Rosewood Las Ventanas is a dream!! I was obsessed with the beachfront rooms here, and the overall architecture and vibe. The service is incredible at both spots, which is why Rosewoods are ALWAYS a dream to stay in.

Absolutely absolutely agree! At your recommendation, we took our son to RW Mayakoba for his first international trip at 11 months old. We’ve never been to a more kid friendly resort that also felt so luxurious for adults at the same time. The service was incredible and it goes without saying, the resort, beaches, and surrounding nature is breathtaking. Will definitely be back!
