As a luxury travel blogger, I’m often asked about my favorite travel credit cards (affiliate link). There’s no better feeling than feeling like when you’re spending money on travel, you’re actually investing toward future travel experiences, as well. Which is why so many of us are looking for the best credit card to not only help us travel more, but travel better when we do.  There is one card that I think stands out among the rest when it comes to a truly high-end, high-reward credit card for luxury travelers: The Platinum Card from American Express. If you’re looking for a low annual fee travel card, this is not the card for you. However, if you’re interested in luxe benefits like swanky airport lounges, automatic access to elite hotel loyalty programs, and the best-of-the-best in features and benefits, then make room in your wallet for this metal beauty. You’re going to love the Platinum Card from American Express.

1. The lounges!

If you’ve ever been in an American Express Centurion lounge, you know they are the best lounges in the world. (Seriously, I plan my flight paths based on which airports have Centurion Lounges – San Francisco, Las Vegas, New York, Miami and Hong Kong all have beautiful ones, and Denver is opening the biggest Centurion Lounge worldwide in January 2019!). The lounges have the best, healthiest food, an open bar, and most of them have a spa as well where you can get a free massage inbetween flights (like are you kidding me, this is the BEST travel perk ever). But, even if your airport doesn’t have a luxurious Centurion lounge, you can experience hundreds of other global lounges in beautiful destinations around the world. As a Platinum Card Member, you can enjoy access to the entire Global Lounge Collection, the broadest level of airport lounge access compared to other U.S. credit card programs.

2. The rewards benefits

As a platinum cardholder, you’ll earn 5X Membership Rewards® points on flights and eligible hotels booked directly with airlines or with American Express Travel.  So, if you pay for flights and hotels with this card and book directly with an airline or through Amex’s portal, you’ll be able to rack up lots of points quickly to redeem for travel awards. This card has all the bells and whistles when it comes to benefits and features, meaning if you learn to use it appropriately, it can save you a lot of money and help you have better experiences while traveling!

3. The sign-up bonus

If you sign up now, you’ll earn 75,000 Membership Rewards points after you spend $5000 with in the first 6 months. This is larger than most sign-up bonuses, and American Express Membership Rewards® points go far.

4. The travel credits!

As a member, you receive $200 Airline Fee Credit, up to $200 a year in baggage fees and more at one airline, a credit for Global Entry or TSA Pre✓™, and up to $200 in Uber savings annually.

5. The hotel loyalty programs

Search through the American Express Travel website, and book stays of at least 2 nights at a Fine Hotels & Resorts Collection property, and you’ll receive an automatic upgrade when available, daily breakfast for two, complimentary WiFi, up to $75 credit for eligible charges when you check out, and more. You’ll also get automatic Hilton Honors Gold Status, as well as Starwood Preferred Guest SPG Gold Status, and Marriott Gold Status, which can afford you some of the same benefits at their properties.
