5 Reasons To Have a Destination Wedding in Bali

As a travel blogger, there are few things I love more than a great destination wedding.  The excitement of an amazing vacation combined with a party and a celebration of love? Sign. me. up. Destination weddings are on the rise all around the world- and why shouldn’t they be! A wedding should be anything but ordinary – it should be extraordinary. And these days, with travel becoming easier than ever, sometimes that means choosing to say “I do” halfway around the world.  When it comes to planning the destination wedding of your dreams, there are few places more dreamy, idyllic and unique than Bali, Indonesia. The so-called “Island of the Gods” is picturesque, exotic, and downright magical. Choosing to have a wedding in Bali means you’ll not only be creating the most memorable day of your life – but you’ll be inviting your loved ones to have one of the most memorable trips of their lives.  If a lush jungle with a backdrop of sparkling blue waters and breathtakingly-beautiful beaches in one of the most vibrant island cultures isn’t enough to convince you yet, here are five reasons to have your destination wedding in Bali.

1. There’s something for everyone

Do you want to say I do on a sandy beach at sunset on a remote island? What about in the lush jungle? Atop a dramatic cliff with waves crashing in the distance?  The insanely scenic Amankila offers a epically-gorgeous beachfront wedding venue in the sand. Whereas the Bulgari Resort Bali, one of the most sought-after wedding sites on the island, soars high above the waves and includes a reflecting pool that makes the bride look like she’s walking on water as she walks down the aisle. If a beachfront mansion is more your vibe, Villa Melissa puts you beachfront in Canggu in the middle of rustic rice paddies or the Four Seasons Sayan places you amongst the zen jungle of Ubud (The FS Sayan was also just named Travel & Leisure’s World’s Best Hotel!). If you’re looking for something truly incredible and unique – you can get married on elephants at the Elephant Safari Park. The Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay allows you to wed poolside, overlooking a calm turquoise bay and Alila Villas Uluwatu and Ayana both have cliffside options that will make your jaw drop.  Banyan Tree Ungasan will leave you breathless with its modern, chic, romantic venues. And, if you’re looking to go all-out-luxe, look no further than Tirtha Bridal in Uluwatu – a stunning new venue set on a cliff of Southern Bali with sweeping views of the Indian Ocean.

2. You can splurge – or save – big. And so can your guests.

Bali has everything for everyone. From the five-star resorts that will change your life, to thousands of smaller, yet just as amazing accommodations and incredible and affordable Airbnbs.  Your friends and family can splurge for a luxe weekend at a resort & spa, or they can get a group together to share an incredible villa Airbnb.  It’s very possible to spend as little $50-$75 a night for a beautiful hotel or villa room— and resort properties almost always have pools and include breakfast. Additionally, food and transportation are so cheap in bali that what you spend up front on plane tickets, you easily make back in the ease of cost of living in Bali. Did I mention the best massages you’ll ever have will cost you just about $15/hour ?

3. Bali is full of incredible sources and vendors to help you plan your perfect day.

Planning a wedding is never easy and challenges are always to be anticipated – especially when it comes to hosting a wedding in a foreign country you’re not all that familiar with … but Bali makes it as easy as possible on you. That’s because the country’s tourism (and wedding business) have been on the rapid rise the last decade, leading to a ton of resources, vendors and businesses all surrounding weddings in Bali. One agency that helps plan weddings in Bali is Your Bali Wedding, who have been creating fully customized and romantic Bali weddings for international clients for over 13 years. They’ll help you find the perfect Bali location, book your reception venue, arrange villa accommodation for your guests and ensure that your and all your guests’ needs are met at all times.

4. The sunsets are the best in the world

I have truly never experienced sunsets like Bali sunsets. If a Bali beach wedding with an epic sunset is what you have in mind for your perfect day, there are incredible options for you. At Alila Villas Uluwatu, weddings take place perched over a picture-perfect cliff as you watch the sun melt into the ocean.

Nearby Uluwatu Surf Villas has one of the most jaw-dropping sunset settings on a sloping cliff (where you’ll see many surfers riding waves below) —their weddings max out at 100 people for a seated dinner, and you can buy out the whole property, which sleeps 48. A recovery BBQ is offered for the day after, and the in-house caterer can do everything from sit-down dinners to a customized local version of a night market – with an array of Indonesian flavors.

5. You’ll have the time of your life with your friends & family

Chances are, if your loved ones haven’t yet traveled to Bali, they’ve wanted to. This island paradise has something for absolutely everyone. It’s a surfer’s heaven, a yogi’s dream, and a foodie’s paradise. Families will find it the easiest destination to keep the kids entertained, and with activities like kayaking, river rafting, hiking volcanos, and trekking to waterfalls, everyone’s days will be filled to the brim with fun. And, after the ceremony, when you need to relax, there’s no better place on earth for a spa day.
