DO NOT STAY HERE!! SEA GLASS FOUND BAHAMAS HOUSE RENTAL REVIEW – The Abacos – BE WARNED!!!
Looking into renting a house in Man-O-War Cay, Abacos, Bahamas? DO NOT STAY AT SEA GLASS FOUND!!!!! I repeat. Do not stay at Sea Glass Found if you don’t want to be scammed out of thousands of dollars. You guys know I hardly EVER write a negative review about a property, or about anywhere really, as I usually only have wonderful experiences on my travels, but it is my responsibility as a blogger to always be honest about my experiences and I needed to tell you all about my absolutely awful experience with Sea Glass Found that was straight out of a travel nightmare, or Fyre Festival honestly, and I want to save as many of you as I can from having to experience the same!!
Here is what happened:
SeaGlass Found claims to offer a beautiful private peninsula complete with four different houses, a marina, a cabana, and other luxury amenities to make you feel right at home. “By choosing SeaGlass Found for your Bahamian getaway, you can have the entire peninsula to yourself and your party.” We were excited about staying here, and despite it not even having a pool, we thought the beach would be enough to keep us occupied so chose it over the other many amazing places to stay in the Abacos. We booked directly through the owner and manager, and we were super excited for our stay. We had nine of us traveling out to the Abacos for the trip, including 3 pregnant women, who were using it as our babymoon!
Then, already with all of our (expensive) flights booked and paid for, and with my family already on our way to the Abacos (because my husband and I had a friend’s destination wedding in the Caribbean in Grenada ahead of the trip), with less than 72 hours notice, the owner cancelled our stay (via an email), saying that he had some construction he wanted to do on property and we’d need to postpone our trip to another time. Um…. what??
In all of my years of travel, this has never happened to me. But guess what.. it can (and did) happen. The owner does what the owner wants, and doesn’t care who they screw in the process. And the most frustrating thing about the entire situation? The owner of Sea Glass Found had ZERO manners or any empathy for the fact that he just screwed over 9 people of not only a vacation, but out of thousands of their hard-earned dollars.
There are so many options of where to stay as a group in the Abacos, and in the Bahamas, so why risk it? And also, I don’t believe in supporting assholes, let alone lining their pockets. There are sooooo many better places to stay. Go to one of those. Here are a few recommendations of the best VRBO’s in the Abacos.
DO NOT BELIEVE THE REVIEWS on Sea Glass Found – they probably wrote them themselves. This place (and the owners) are not worth spending your time or money on – you don’t want to be screwed out of your whole vacation when you’re already en route!!
