The Best Resort in Bora Bora (Here’s my Honest Take & What I Tell My Clients)

Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora

The Four Seasons Bora Bora is one of my top three resorts I’ve ever stayed in, around the world, and I’d happily stay 10 nights in a row. We loved it so much as a couple that we went back as a family. The bungalows are huge, the private beach is one of the best in the world, and you can walk through the water from the beach to the resort’s private island.

My insider tips: book a Mount Otemanu view (we had one and it was breathtaking, and it really does make a difference), and request a bungalow at the end of the pontoon for the most privacy. When you book with me, I always ask for the most private bungalow with the best view, and most of my clients get an upgrade too. Our favorite restaurants were Vaimuti, Arii Moana and the beach seafood restaurant Fare Hoa, and room service in our robes at sunset was the best meal of all.

Conrad Bora Bora Nui

We loved the Conrad too! If you are trying to save on budget, Conrad is a good option (or a split stay!) – especially for its fun, energetic vibe and its food. The glass-floor sushi bar Upa Upa was the highlight (we went three times, plus once just for drinks), and I still dream about the dumplings at Banyan. We stayed in bungalow 208 and loved the endless blue views from the 200s. Here’s how it compares in Conrad Bora Bora vs. Four Seasons Bora Bora.

Bora Bora With Kids

Yes, you can absolutely do Bora Bora with little ones! We flew the overnight nonstop from LAX to Tahiti, caught the 8am flight to Bora Bora, and were welcomed with leis and whisked onto a boat to the resort minutes after landing. The Four Seasons had a crib, a plush toy, baby bath products and a hooded towel ready in our bungalow. We booked a private sharks and rays tour so we could hold our son in the water (the rays were his favorite!). Here’s my ultimate guide to Bora Bora with a toddler.

How Booking Bora Bora With Me Works

1. Tell me where and when. Send me your dates, who’s traveling and what you’re celebrating (or just the vibe you want, if you’re still deciding where to stay). The form at the bottom of this page comes straight to me.

2. I send you hotel options with your perks. I compare rates and offers for your dates and show you exactly which perks come with each one, plus the room I’d actually book. Prefer to look on your own? Everything is live on my portal too (password: JETSETTERS).

3. You say yes and I book it. I send you a secure card authorization and lock in your room. You pay the hotel directly, so you keep your credit card points.

4. I take care of everything before you land. I’m your direct line to the hotel team. I share your celebration, your preferences and your arrival time, and if you’d like the full itinerary (transfers, dinners, boat days and private tours), I plan that too.

My Insider Tips for Bora Bora

  • Pick one resort and stay put. I always recommend this over bouncing between hotels.
  • Don’t over-schedule. The best days in Bora Bora are the slow ones in your bungalow and on the beach.
  • Plan for pricey food and drinks. Bora Bora is the most expensive destination I’ve experienced for dining (yes, more than the Maldives), so it’s best to know before you go.
  • Do the sharks and rays snorkel. I recommend it to everyone, and a private tour is perfect with kids.
  • Book a photographer. This is a trip you’ll want to remember forever.
  • Shop for Tahitian pearls. They’re only found here in French Polynesia, and they’re gorgeous.

Does It Cost More to Book Bora Bora With a Travel Advisor?

Booking your hotel with me is complimentary. There is no fee and no markup, ever, and you pay the same rate as booking direct (or better), with the perks on top. If you’d like me to plan the whole trip (vetted guides, private transfers, dinner reservations and day-by-day logistics), I offer custom itinerary planning for a planning fee. Just ask and I’ll send you the details.

Bora Bora Travel Advisor FAQs

Do I need a travel agent to book Bora Bora?

You don’t need one, but booking Bora Bora with an advisor gets you perks you can’t get on your own, like daily breakfast, a resort credit at most properties and an upgrade when available, at the same rate as booking direct. I also make sure you’re placed in the right bungalow, which matters more in Bora Bora than almost anywhere.

Which Bora Bora resort is best?

If budget is no object, the Four Seasons Bora Bora, hands down. It’s one of my top three resorts I’ve ever stayed in. The Conrad Bora Bora Nui is a fun, social pick with amazing food. I’ll match you to the right one based on who’s traveling and what you want.

Is a mountain view bungalow worth it in Bora Bora?

Yes! We had a Mount Otemanu view at the Four Seasons and it was breathtaking. I recommend booking the mountain view to start, so any upgrade gets you an even better villa within the mountain views.

How do you get to Bora Bora from the US?

My favorite routing is the overnight nonstop from LAX to Tahiti, then a morning flight to Bora Bora, so you skip a night in Tahiti and wake up in paradise. That’s exactly how we did it with our toddler.

Is Bora Bora good for families?

Yes! We took our toddler son and had the best time. The Four Seasons had a crib, baby bath products and a hooded towel waiting in our bungalow, plus a kids club with a splash pad. We did a private sharks and rays tour so we could hold him while he watched the rays.

How long should we stay in Bora Bora?

Pick one resort and stay the whole time rather than hopping around. Give yourself enough nights to slow down, because the best Bora Bora days are the unscheduled ones.
