Cheval Blanc Randheli represents one of the the top of the top best luxury hotels in the Maldives, and the world. A place where impeccable design meets tropical seclusion. Set in the pristine Noonu Atoll, this resort is a private-island escape accessible by seaplane, with just 45–46 spacious villas nestled between white sand and turquoise water. Each villa – whether beachfront or overwater – features generous indoor-outdoor living spaces with private pools and bespoke touches reflecting LVMH’s beautiful artistic design and nature. The spa spans its own island with Guerlain-branded rituals, several distinct foodie favorite restaurants, and tailor-made experiences from sandbank picnics to tennis on the island court. Its overwater bungalow villas (some with slides into the lagoon! so cute) and expansive decks invite relaxation, play, and privacy. The resort blends barefoot luxury with upscale, super sophisticated design, from retractable roofs and outdoor bathrooms to unique experiences like overwater cinema nights, sandbank picnics, stargazing, and very diverse dining options spread across multiple venues. One&Only Reethi Rah
One&Only Reethi Rah remains one of the Maldives’ most stunning, most PERFECT resorts for those who love spacious island living, high-end luxury, and beautifully designed villas. We LOVED this property traveling to the Maldives as a family, and loved that it was only a boat ride away from Male airport (which was a yacht!). There are great restaurants, a strong service culture, and water experiences, this is a great all-around choice for travelers who want both activity and refinement in a lively but still ultra-lux environment. Also, the villas here are absolutely INSANE and may just be the best hotel room I’ve ever stayed in.

The only luxury resort in the Southern Laamu Atoll, Six Senses Laamu stands out for combining eco-conscious design with rich marine experiences. It is less ‘opulent luxury’ as some of the others on this list, and more barefoot luxury. So if that’s your style, you’ll love it here! Spread across beachfront and overwater villas designed to harmonize with the natural surroundings, it offers a genuine island atmosphere that still feels refined and polished. Soneva Fushi is the kind of place that reminds you why you fell in love with travel in the first place. It’s barefoot luxury in the BEST form – think: no shoes, no rush, no news, no sense of trying too hard, just wildly thoughtful service, sprawling jungle paths, and moments of WOW, I can’t believe this place is real. You bike to dinner under the stars, stumble upon hidden experiences you didn’t even know to ask for, and somehow feel both deeply relaxed and fully alive at the same time. It’s equally magical for couples and families, which is rare in the Maldives, and it’s one of those stays people talk about years later because it doesn’t just impress you… it stays with you! I mean… this SLIDE!?! unreal.
Gili Lankanfushi
Gili Lankanfushi is such a magical place, you guys!!! The overwater bungalows here give off a rustic chic, understated luxury vibe, and feel somewhere between a luxurious pirate ship and a floating treehouse. They’re gorgeous. You’ll want to spend all day laying out on your hammock over the water, and all night sleeping under the stunnnning stars (your butler – called your “Friday” can set it up for you!). Some of the villas – called the “cruisers” give you an even more unique experience as they are only accessible by boat (you can boat yourself during the day or there is always one on call for you!). And, if you want the best of the best, or have a big family, you can look into the biggest overwater bungalow in the Maldives, called “The Private Reserve”, which is complete with four bedrooms, its own infinity pool, its own private ISLAND, and a slide into the ocean.
What’s nice about Gili Lankanfushi is that it’s only a boat ride away from the airport, so you won’t need another domestic flight or a seaplane to get to it, making it a popular vacation choice for Americans and Maldives honeymooners who want to make the most of one week in the Maldives. It is definitely nice to be able to get straight there from the airport! I highly recommend this spot if you’re looking to avoid an extra flight!!! (and the extra cost that comes with it!)
Some big highlights of this resort were the destination dining options (you can dine privately in gorgeous settings all over the island), the sunset Dhoani cruise (a traditional 2-person Maldivian sailboat that cruises around the lagoons at sunset with a bottle of champagne – so romantic for honeymooners!) and the dinners at the resort!! Gili does an incredible asian street market buffet every Tuesday, and a to-die-for Mediterranean market buffet on Fridays, on all other days they have multiple restaurants open, including a fresh sushi restaurant called By the Sea. I also definitely recommend going to their beautiful spa and getting a massage! Their massage tables look over glass-bottom floors so you can watch the fish swim while you’re getting massaged!
Conrad Maldives Rangali Island
A legendary hotel in The Maldives with standout experiences like the world-famous Ithaa Undersea Restaurant and The Muraka underwater villa, this property blends classic Maldives luxury with unique, bucket-list dining and marine experiences. It’s a compelling choice for couples who want distinctive moments — underwater dining, extraordinary reef snorkeling, and thoughtfully designed villas.

That said, when we’re talking about what makes a Maldives stay truly exceptional at the highest level of luxe, the stays that feel singular, unforgettable, and unlike any other luxury destination in the world, Four Seasons sits just a notch below a few of the other options on this list in my opinion. That’s because to me it feels more standard, traditional luxury, like you could be anywhere, vs out of this world MALDIVES feeling. they also don’t have a good house reef which to me matters a lot!
