The Cloister vs. The Lodge – What Are the Differences?
Choosing between The Cloister and The Lodge is a tough call – they are both amazing resorts on Sea Island. I get this question a lot from my followers and to answer that, here’s the lowdown:
Location and Ambiance
The Cloister is located by the Black Banks River, and is a mediterranean garden-like setting with easy access to the Beach Club and the pools and spa. It feels elegant and luxurious, and peaceful.
The Lodge on the other hand, is on the golf course. It offers a more intimate and cozy environment. There is a large lawn that families love. The focus here is on golf and the rustic charm of a classic Southern lodge-style. You are a 10 minute drive away from the pools, beach, etc.
The rooms
The rooms and suites at The Cloister are designed with Mediterranean-inspired decor, featuring high ceilings, rich fabrics, and a bright atmosphere. But if you like a more traditional and cozy vibe, with wood-paneled walls, fireplaces, marble bathrooms and a warm, inviting ambiance, then the The Lodge is for you! Think old English manors with antique furniture.
Amenities and Activities
The Cloister is closer to the Beach Club, with all of its amazing pools. I highly recommend this for families and those looking to enjoy the pool, beach activities and wellness. But if you love golfing, go for the Lodge! Guests at The Lodge enjoy personalized butler service, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and a bagpiper serenade at sunset – so fun!!!!
Dining Experience
Choosing where to eat on Sea Island is tough! So many great options to choose from. At The Cloister you have the Forbes Five-Star Georgian Room, the Italian restaurant Tavola (this was my favorite) and The Lodge is home to the renowned Oak Room and Colt & Alison restaurants. Colt & Alison is an adults-only steakhouse that is great if you’re leaving the kids with a babysitter or there with couples.
