The Best Luxury Honeymoon Resorts in the World

As a luxury travel blogger, I’m always getting asked here and on instagram for honeymoon recommendations. Everything from “Where should we go on our honeymoon?” to “What are the best resorts for honeymoons?” to “What should we do on our honeymoon?”, “How to plan a honeymoon” and everything in-between! After all – we all know the best part of any party is the after party, and weddings are no different!  Months and months of wedding planning stress, logistics, and exhaustion culminate in the one thing you both are looking forward more than anything else: your honeymoon.

For many couples, a romantic honeymoon is not only the perfect way to kick off the rest of their lives and de-stress after the wedding, but the perfect excuse to take the bucket list trip of a lifetime they’ve always wanted to take together!

But, when it comes to deciding where to go on your honeymoon, and what luxury resort is best in your chosen destination, honeymoon planning can get a little overwhelming. There are so many romantic hotels and destinations in the world that cater to honeymooners, but every couple is different, and everyone wants something different from their dream trip! Which is why I wanted to outline 10 very different hotels that I’ve personally stayed in all over the world – along with why I love them, and what makes them so special, so that you can make the right decision on what honeymoon resort will be the best choice for you!

These are (in my opinion!) the best of the very best. This list covers hotels in honeymoon destinations all over the world – from Hawaii, to Bali, to the Maldives, to Napa Valley and the Amalfi Coast. Each resort has its own feel and vibe, but what they have in common is a focus on the best of location, relaxation, and ultimate luxury travel experience.

So, whether you’re looking for a private island beach vacation, a Mediterranean oasis, a jungle-luxe resort, a resort you never have to leave, or a relaxing spot to base from for a more adventurous honeymoon, I guarantee that if you stay at any of these dreamy properties, you’re going to have the honeymoon of your dreams.

THE BEST LUXURY HONEYMOON RESORTS IN THE WORLD

1. Six Senses Laamu, The Maldives

When it comes to my favorite places in the world, The Maldives is currently reigning as number one. And no one does luxury in the Maldives quite like Six Senses Laamu. At Six Senses Laamu, you can do it all, or nothing at all. It’s the perfect place for the couple looking to strike a healthy vacation balance between the two. From active mornings surfing, paddleboarding or biking around the island, to lazy afternoons spent sipping rosé in your private infinity pool.

Jetset’s honeymoon must do’s at the Six Senses Laamu:  Tell your concierge you want to organize a beach day (or sunset) at the Six Senses’ private sandbank. They’ll drop you off at a completely private island for the day, complete with a beach umbrella, a couple chairs, and a cooler filled with coconuts and ice-cold waters. You’ll feel a little like Tom Hanks in Castaway, and a little like a couple on a Bachelor date. And you’ll have an amazing time.

Drone’s-eye-view of the sandbank!

2. Hotel Santa Caterina, The Amalfi Coast

When it comes to romance, no one does it quite like Italy. And with its five-star service and food, exclusivity, and beautiful setting on the Mediterranean, Santa Caterina makes the perfect honeymoon home-base in the Amalfi Coast. The beautiful balconies overlooking the water, the decadent buffet breakfasts, and the seaside beach club (accessible via elevator) were my favorite parts of the resort. It’s an ideal choice for a romantic Italian honeymoon.

Jetset’s honeymoon must do’s at the Hotel Santa Caterina: Enjoy as much time as you can at the resort’s seaside pool. It’s stunning, and the perfect place to relax for days on end. Also take a ferry or water taxi over to Positano for the day (about 20-30 mins). You’ll love exploring the picture-perfect pastel-colored beach town, and seeing the Amalfi Coast from the sea!

3. Mystique, Santorini Greece

Mystique is just 5 minutes walking from the bustling downtown Oia, but is tucked away in a secluded, quiet paradise all its own. Everything is a dream at this resort. The food, the drinks, the pool, the views. I mean just LOOK at the room view we had. Does it get any better than this?

4. Four Seasons Sayan, Ubud, Bali

The Four Seasons Ubud was recently ranked by Travel & Leisure as the #1 Luxury Resort in the WORLD, and it’s easy to see why. This beautiful resort blends together unworldly natural beauty, luxurious modern amenities, and the cultural essence of Bali.

Jetset’s honeymoon must do’s at The Four Seasons Sayan: See their traditional Balinese dancers dance at sunset (so beautiful!), and make sure you explore around Bali! Read up on all of the different areas of Bali and where to go on The Ultimate Bali Travel Guide here!)

5. Four Seasons Bora Bora

Ah, the Four Seasons Bora Bora. This may just be the most famous hotel in the world, located on the South Pacific’s most-famous island, Bora Bora.  This resort is the epitome of honeymoon luxury and all of the romance of the South Seas – and it’s the perfect resort for couples and honeymooners. With spacious overwater bungalows, views of the Bora Bora mountains and the endless ocean, infinity pools, 4 onsite island restaurants, an open-air fitness center and a waterfront spa, and world-class service that you can only get at Four Seasons’ resorts, this place is paradise

6. Kirini Santorini, Santorini Greece

Kirini is everything you think of when you dream of planning a Santorini honeymoon. Kirini Santorini is one of the Leading Hotels in the World, and was an absolute highlight of my vacation in Santorini. It’s only around 40 rooms, and feels like a complete oasis of its own, just 5 minutes outside of much-busier Oia. It’s completely secluded, private, and beautiful. The rooms are definitely the nicest I found in Santorini, with super-plush king sized beds and spacious cave-style suites. And the service as well as the food & wine were incredible – the champagne buffet breakfast (included in your room) was SO good, and the perfect way to start your Santorini day!

Royal Malewane Safari Lodge, South Africa

For a six-star safari honeymoon in South Africa that is super luxe and memorable, look no further than Royal Malewane, where YES, you can actually watch elephants from your very own pool. DREAMY.

Gili Lankanfushi, The Maldives

Gili Lankanfushi is such a magical place for a honeymoon. The overwater bungalows here give off a rustic chic vibe, and feel somewhere between a floating treehouse and a luxurious pirate ship. They’re so romantic, and so beautiful! You’re going to want to spend all day laying out on your hammock over the water, and all night sleeping under the stunnnning stars (your butler – called your “Friday” can set it up for you!). Some of the villas – called the “cruisers”– give you an even more unique experience because they’re only accessible by boat (you can boat yourself during the day or there is always one on call for you).

And, if you feel like leaving your villa (you might never want to!), there’s a ton of activities to choose from, such as surfing, paddleboarding, wine-tasting, and romantic sunset cruises.  The food at this hotel is also a huge highlight – they specialize in “destination dinners” where you can dine in romantic private settings all over the island and they have multiple restaurants open each night! My favorites were their Tuesday night Asian Street Market, and Friday night mediterranean buffet – to die for!!)

This hotel is a perfect choice for honeymooners traveling to the Maldives from the United States, since it’s only a 20-minute boat ride away from the airport (so you won’t spend even more time flying, and you’ll save money since you won’t have to pay for seaplane airfare to get to the resort – which is common with other Maldives resorts!)

Jetset’s honeymoon must do’s at Gili Lankanfushi: Don’t miss out on the gorgeous spa! The massage tables look at a glass-bottom floor, so you can watch the fishes while you get your massage – so cool! And definitely do the sunset Dhoani cruise – a sailor will take you both out on a traditional Maldivian wooden sailboat with canapes and champagne. It’s simple, romantic and beautiful, and was one of my favorite memories of the trip.

8. Song Saa, Cambodia

If you guys have been following me on Instagram for awhile, you know how this place holds such a special place in my heart, and how much I loved my trip to Song Saa Private Island in Cambodia. It’s located just off the coast of Cambodia‘s Koh Rong, and was the most unique, romantic, luxurious, and wonderful vacation my boyfriend and I could have asked for.

It’s a private island of overwater bungalows, five-star food and drinks, dreamy infinity pools and villas dripping in luxury.  You take a speedboat from the harbor in Sihanoukville to get to the island, and by the time you arrive you can feel just how off-the-map you are. You take off your shoes (you don’t need them on the island), you put away your wallet (everything – including alcohol – is included in your room rate), you put on your swimsuit on, jump into your private villa pool, and melt into paradise bliss.

If you want a unique honeymoon that none of your friends have done before, and is guaranteed to blow their minds (and yours!), this is it. I think Song Saa is an ideal choice for honeymooners who want a little bit of adventure, mixed with ultimate relaxation. Cambodia is one of the most amazing countries in the world – and if you’ve never been, a honeymoon can be the perfect excuse to make the trip. You can start your hoenymoon week decompressing at Song Saa, and then take the short hopper flight to Siem Reap to adventure around Cambodia and take in the ancient ruins of Angkor Wat (which were recently ranked the #1 UNESCO World Heritate Site in the world by TripAdvisor!)

Jetset’s honeymoon must do’s at Song Saa, Cambodia: The Monk Blessing, a beautiful ritual is performed on the island by three monks who boat over from the local village just to perform the intimate ceremony. The blessing is a Cambodian buddhist tradition that dates back to ancient times and is meant to protect the blessed from harmful spirits and to balance energies, bringing you peace and happiness into the future, and blessings as a couple.

9. Belmond Hotel Caruso, Ravello, Italy

If you’re looking for a romantic Italian resort that screams luxury while whispering “La Dolce Vita”, this is it. While Positano and many areas of the Amalfi Coast are busy and bustling in the summertime, this romantic gem of the Amalfi Coast remains charming, relaxing, and quiet. Ravello is a tiny town tucked 1000 feet up into the cliff-sides of Italy, with stunning panoramic views, gorgeous classic Italian hotels, and an adorable town full of delicious Italian restaurants and enotecas (wine bars). Ravello is a perfect location for a honeymoon – and  The Belmond Hotel Caruso is the ultimate place to soak up everything the Italian town, and the Amalfi Coast, has to offer. Not to mention it has one of the most beautiful infinity pools in the world!!!

Jetset’s honeymoon must do’s at The Belmond Caruso: Head down to Amalfi for a day (a bus ride or taxi) and get dinner at Da Ciccio! It’s my favorite restaurant in all of Italy! Also, make sure you go Italian pottery shopping in Ravello (everything is so beautiful!) and wine tasting at Wine & Drugs, a small wine store in town that has some of the best Italian wines that you can ship back to the states – or bring home with you!

10. The Viceroy, Bali

If you and your fiancé care less about having a beach vacation, and more about finding the ultimate jungle luxe resort in Bali, The Viceroy is going to be your honeymoon heaven. Each of The Viceroy’s luxury villas is a sanctuary that you’ll never want to leave – did I mention they all have a private infinity pool that can, with the click of a switch, turn into a hot tub? (HOW AMAZING IS THAT!?!). The service is absolutely amazing at this resort and the restaurant – Cascades – is one of my favorite breakfasts in Bali (Make sure you leave your wedding diet at home, you’re gonna want to order the coconut milk banana french toast for breakfast every morning!!)

Jetset’s honeymoon must do’s at The Viceroy Bali: Plan on exploring around Bali (my Ultimate Bali Honeymoon Guide is here!), but having some resort days as well to soak up the beauty (and relaxation) that is this place!

12. Auberge du Soleil, Napa Valley

If you’re looking for the best locations for a honeymoon in the United States, Napa and the Auberge du Soleil should top your list. This dreeeeamy Napa Valley hotel is often ranked among the best resorts in the United States, and is often known as California wine country’s most prestigious hotel, with 50 luxurious rooms and suites, extraordinary valley views of vineyards, an award-winning spa, and a Michelin-Starred restaurant and bar with exceptional service. Honeymooners in Napa will love the alfresco dining views of the vineyards, the pool, the location (super close to many of the best vineyards for wine tasting) and the upscale, exclusive vibe for the ultimate in relaxation and luxury.

Jetset’s honeymoon must-do’s at Auberge du Soleil: Soak up the sun with a glass of rosé in hand at the Auberge’s sexy pool — dubbed La Plage — which is full of comfy chaise lounges, and dreamy day beds overlooking stunning Valley views.

Goal was to make this a top 10 best honeymoon resorts in the world list, but then I got too excited. There was just no way I could cut out one of these 13 hotels, so here we have it – the top TWELVE best honeymoon resorts in the world! As always, shoot me a message on instagram or an email to [email protected] if you have any questions about any of these destinations or hotels! I love honeymoon planning 🙂

Bottom line – why go on just one honeymoon???
