The Best Babymoon Destinations in the USA: All the safest places to babymoon that you don’t need a passport for

When you’re thinking about the best babymoon destinations and where to babymoon and brainstorming babymoon ideas, there are few things you’re looking for in an ideal destination.

Number 1 is safety (Zika-free babymoon destinations only please!!!!), and Number 2 is comfort and ease of travel. The last thing you want when you’re 6 months pregnant is a hectic travel day, or, worse, a chaotic destination where you don’t get to fully relax. And, lastly, you’re looking for somewhere special that you and your husband or wife can soak in your last romantic vacation together before you become a party of three!

I think the best babymoons are more than an excuse for a great vacation, it’s an opportunity to disconnect from the world and connect with each other (and your growing baby!). It’s an opportunity to relax after a stressful pregnancy, and to re-center yourselves before the biggest change of your life. It’s difficult to know the best places to travel while pregnant, and you want to pick the best destination for you and your spouse. So where should you babymoon for some romance, relaxation, and some must needed rest? With so many relaxing, safe, babymoon destinations to choose from, I’m here to help.

The best luxury babymoon destinations in the USA:

Hawaii

Hawaii for a babymoon is a great choice, especially if you’re flying from the west coast. With nonstop options from most west coast airports, the travel is a breeze. Once you’re on the islands, you can spend your babymoon soaking in the sun, eating fresh, healthy food, and taking long coastal walks. Hawaii is perfect for a babymoon because while it feels exotic, it is super-safe and within the United States, and thus super easy to get to, easy to navigate, and a completely safe trip for you and your baby.

Maui, Hawaii

Maui is home to golden-sand beaches, swimming, snorkeling, golfing, and consistently sunny skies, making it a perfect choice for a babymoon! Here are the best resorts for a babymoon on Maui.

Four Seasons Maui

I cannot picture a more perfect babymoon destination than the Four Seasons Wailea. With five-star service, incredible food, and absolutely everything you could need for a relaxing vacation at your fingertips, there’s no wonder this hotel is such a popular choice with babymooners (and honeymooners)!! The last time we visited the FS Maui, there were SO many happy babymooners, enjoying the sun, the unbeatable views, and the world-class service. The FS Maui has thought of everything to make moms on a Maui babymoon feel ultra-comfortable, from neonatal massages in the spa, to the 15, 30 and 50 spf available complimentarily at every pool, so you never have to worry about getting too much sun on your bump.

When to babymoon in Maui: Maui is beautiful any time of year, with whale watching season from December-April, and the dryest weather on the island from April-October. Though if you stay on the Wailea side of Maui, it rarely rains any time of year.

I’ll take a couples massage every day of my babymoon, please and thank you.

By the way, if you babymoon on Maui – be sure to hire Anna Kim Photography for a photoshoot!! She’s my wedding photographer and is SO unbelievably talented!!!

Big Island, Hawaii

Four Seasons Hualalai

If you’re looking for complete serenity and relaxation, Four Seasons Hualalai is a great choice for a babymoon. The spa at Hualalai has all kinds of babymoon-focused treatments, from prenatal massages to relaxing bubble baths.

When to babymoon on Hawaii: The Big Island is the driest Hawaiian island, making it an ideal sunny destination any time of the year.

Mauna Lani, an Auberge Resort

This brand-new Auberge resort on Hawaii’s big island is a great choice for a babymoon, especially if you or your husband likes to golf. Surrounded by 32 expansive oceanfront acres, the resort is marked by royal fishponds, natural lava plains, lush tropical gardens, alluring beaches, and a beautiful golf course. It’s a stunning resort and easily my favorite hotel recommendation for a babymoon in Hawaii’s Big Island!

Kauai, Hawaii

1 Hotel Hanalei Bay

The 1 Hotel in Kauai is an ideal babymoon location. From it’s floor-to-ceiling panoramic lobby windows with sweeping views of Kauai’s spectacular mountains, a waterfall, and the picturesque Hanalei Bay, to its stunningly beautiful pool, to it’s world-class service, it is no question that this hotel defines luxury, and relaxation. But nearby hikes like the Napili Coast Trail, and fun activities like sailing with dolphins (you can read more in my Kauai guide here), you can get into as much – or as little- as you feel like on your Kauai babymoon.

California

With mild weather year-round, another great babymoon destination in the USA is the California coast. Here are my top picks for where to babymoon in California.

Half Moon Bay

If you’re looking for a quick getaway trip from San Francisco, or a weekend away in a charming town on California’s coast, look no further than Half Moon Bay. Home to one of the most beautiful resorts in the world, the Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay, you’ll spend your days at the spa, on the golf course, walking the beach, kayaking with sea otters, or exploring the cute little town, and your nights snuggled up with s’mores at the Ritz’s dreamy outdoor firepits.

Carmel-by-the-sea, California

Carmel is a perfect choice for a babymoon if you’re looking for a babymoon destination in the USA. If you want to be on the coast, look into

But for a beautiful, relaxing getaway just a few miles inland, check out the Carmel Valley Ranch – a luxury oasis in the hillsides of Carmel. The top-notch service includes golf carts at your disposal, tennis and golf lessons, and nature walks wind through the 450-acres of California wilderness. The 139 rooms, all one-bedroom suites, are spacious, rustic-chic and beautiful, and the Spa Aiyana will be your pregnancy haven – with its essential oils extracted from the flowers of on-site lavender fields.

Big Sur, California

The Ventana Big Sur

If an escape to California’s highway one – arguably the most beautiful natural coastline in America calls out to you for your babymoon, Ventana Big Sur is for you. You’ll wake up to the fresh scents of redwood and eucalyptus and spend your days walking the coast, lounging by the pool, or soaking in the stunning views. It’s a more adventurous babymoon than some of the others on this list, but if you’re feeling a little adventure, and a little relaxation, it’s the babymoon destination for you! If you want to splurge, go for the rooms with private hot tubs and ocean views – unreal!!

Charleston, South Carolina

Charleston is all about 2 things that every pregnant woman loves: eating, and shopping. It’s a small city, is easy to navigate, and offers so much southern charm and amazing food you may want to just stay there for the rest of your pregnancy. There’s also beautiful beaches on nearby Sullivan’s Island, Isle of Palms, or Kiawah.

Where to stay for a babymoon in Charleston:

Hotel Bennett

Hotel Bennett’s location is impossible to beat (directly on Upper King Street, surrounded by all the King Street shopping and restaurants of your dreams), and the rooms and rooftop pool are SO beautiful. Each suite features a glam standalone tub (#babymoongoals), and charming yet contemporary furnishings that will make you feel like it’s your home away from home in the South.

Bermuda

OK you DO need a passport for this one, but I still wanted to include it! Bermuda is a dreamy oasis of turquoise waters, secluded pink-sand beaches, a vibrant local culture and is a completely zika-free babymoon destination!

Where to stay in Bermuda for a babymoon:

Pompano Beach Club

Pompano Beach Club is home to easily the most stunning pool and beach in Bermuda – you won’t ever want to leave! At low tide, you can walk nearly 200 yards in perfectly clear, sparkling knee-deep aqua-blue water. It’s a dream. It’s also all-inclusive, making it an easy, effortless babymoon destination.

The Reefs Resort & Club

With a pink sand beach, this resort is ideal for a lazy, relaxing, perfect babymoon in Bermuda. And you have a beautiful reef only 20 feet off the beach for snorkeling!! (hence “The Reefs Resort“)

Enjoy your babymoon! Wherever it takes you!
