Full of swanky, seventies glamour, Chambers Eat + Drink is the perfect SF date night hot spot

Chambers Eat + Drink is a smooth contemporary American restaurant located within the Phoenix Hotel, a funky, boutique tenderloin hotel defined by it’s ultra-cool mid-century modern feel. Rock and rollers (everyone from David Bowie to Metallica to the Red Hot Chili Peppers) frequent the hip hotel and its easy to see why. The So Cal-style courtyard pool is the center of attention, but the restaurant and bar across the way is where you’ll want to both start and end your day.

Chambers, best known for it’s highly-instagrammable bar lights spelling out “BE AMAZING”, has become the spot to see and be seen in the Civic Center/Tenderloin neighborhoods. With a great DJ on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, there is no better spot to grab a drink and soak up the upbeat and classy ambiance. On weeknights, the ambiance is more laid-back, yet no less hip. The red walls, velvety interiors create an elegant ambiance while the thousands of vintage vinyl records lining the walls add to the restaurant’s suave rock-and-roll vibe. The contemporary American menu features options ranging from a creamy avocado tuna tartare to crispy pork belly to a to-die-for duck breast. The cocktails are some of the best of the city as well (my favorite is the Loving Cup; a green-tea infused vodka and elderflower cocktail complete with a beautiful edible flower on top!), while their beautifully-chosen wine list will keep you cuddling up on their couches, wine glass in hand, long after your dinner has ended.

Insider’s tip: There’s a poolside brunch on weekends complete with a heated patio enclosure. 10am-3pm Saturdays and Sundays.
